Freight rates drop on excess position of trucks

NEW DELHI, Jan 20: Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section declined by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today following huge availability of trucks amid restricted cargo movements.
Transporters said heavy position of trucks and thin cargo movements mainly led to a fall in some of the centres’ freight rates.
Delhi to Guwahati, Hyderabad and Vijayawada freight rates dropped by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 59,000, Rs 54,000 and Rs 58,000, respectively.
Freight rates to Kochi, Puducherry and Bengaluru also slipped by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 70,000, Rs 65,000 and Rs 61,000, respectively.
Elsewhere, freight rates managed to move around overnight levels on some support.
