Four drug peddlers arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Dec 27: In a joint operation, Gangyal and Gandhi Nagar police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 100 grams heroin valuing Rs 10 lakh from their possession.
According to SP South Sandeep Choudhary, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka in Model Town area and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 25 grams heroin valuing Rs 2.50 lakh from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him, Choudhary stated.
The arrested person has been identified as Deep Paul Singh alias Licky, son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Model Town, Gangyal.
SP further stated that Gandhi Nagar police laid a naka near Nehru Market and intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number JK02BL-0965.
On frisking, police recovered 75 grams heroin valuing Rs 7.50 lakh from the possession of three persons traveling in the vehicle and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Amin alias Babblu, son of Imtiaz Ahmed of Darsopur, Rohit Kumar alias Binny, son of Satish Kumar of Darsopur and Dalip Singh alias Pola, son of Jaspal Singh of Tali Morh Simbal, Choudhary added.
SP added that the arrested persons used to allegedly procure drugs from Punjab and supply the same in Jammu. Further investigation is being conducted to pinpoint his contact persons in Jammu through whom he used to get the drugs peddled to youth in Jammu. He termed this catch as an important milestone.
He was of the opinion that the accused arrested had been involved in drug dealing for quite some time and proper technical analysis played a great role in apprehending them.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Gangyal and Gandhi Nagar Police Stations and investigation started.
The entire operation was led by SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and assisted by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Jasrotia, SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali, Incharge Nehru Market Police Post SI JP Singh and Incharge Greater Kailash Police Post SI Vicky Thapa under the supervision of SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
