Four arrested in goldsmith murder case

SRINAGAR, Jan 8: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have solved a murder mystery of a goldsmith by arresting four accused persons in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir.
This was disclosed by SP Sopore Harmeet Singh while interacting with media persons here today.

He said that a complaint was received that a shopkeeper Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Rasool Malik, a resident of Kalaroose Kupwara, at present Baba Yousuf Sopore is missing from December 26, 2017.
Accordingly a missing report was lodged and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to investigate the case, he added.
SP informed that during the course of investigation, Sopore police cracked the case by using technical and human resources and it came to fore that the victim was kidnapped and murdered by four persons who were identified as Mohammad Sajad Lara son of Mohammed Afzal Lara,  Mohammad Adil Lara son of Mohammed Afzal Lara residents of Muslimpeer Sopore, Ghulam Mohammed Lara son of Ghulam Qadir Lara and Nayeem Ahmad Lara son of Ghulam Mohammed Lara residents of Ashpeer Sopore.
During further investigation it also came to light that the motive of the accused was to extort gold and money from the goldsmith Tariq who was having a Goldsmith shop (Karatline Jewelery Shop) situated at Chota Bazar Sopore, SP said, adding that the accused with the sole motive of extortion, kidnapped Tariq Ahmad on December 26 in the evening hours and strangulated him to death.
The accused then disposed off dead body into river Jehlum, SP said, adding that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Besides, gold worth lakhs and some cash were recovered from the accused, he added.
