Founder SEWA calls on Governor

SRINAGAR, Sept 8: Ela Bhatt, Founder Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) accompanied by Reema Nanavaty, Director SEWA and Rameshwar Mihir Bhat, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Bhatt discussed with the Governor several issues about the welfare activities being undertaken by the SEWA in Kashmir, since it started working here in 2010.  She also spoke about SEWA’s future plans in Kashmir and informed that so far 5000 women have been trained through their local enterprise, “Shehjar Association Kupwara”, which was registered this year.
Governor thanked Ela Bhatt and her colleagues for the exceptional dedication with which SEWA has been working in Kashmir for imparting skills to women and enabling them to become self employed. He assured Bhatt of full support to SEWA’s initiatives in Kashmir and wished high success to all of SEWA’s future endeavours.
