JAMMU, Feb 19: In an educative initiative towards increasing awareness on what heart failure is and the role of the Heart Failure Clinic at Fortis Hospital Ludhiana, the institute organized an event for the doctors in Jammu.
The event was spearheaded by Dr Paramdeep S Sandhu, Senior Consultant Intervention Cardiology, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana and was also chaired by Dr Mohan Lal, leading Cardiologist and Internist in Jammu city, Dr R K Goyal, Dr KK Kaul HOD Pathology GMCH and Dr Ashok Saraf graced the occasion. Dr Arvind Kohli (CTVS) Dr Vivek Gadotra (CTVS), Dr Mohit Arora (CTVS), Dr Gutam Goel, Dr Deepak Gupta (MS) Dr Rajnish Atri, senior BJP leader Munish Sharm and leading Physicians participated in the program.
Speaking on the Goals of HF Clinic Dr Sandhu said that our aim is to Make Fortis Hospital Ludhiana as a centre of excellence for heart failure management. The HF Clinic can operate on various broad objectives: Heart failure is a complex syndrome. While recent efforts have focused on improving the outlook for patients with chronic heart failure, mortality and morbidity following admission for acute heart failure remain significant.
According to the available data, the median survival of HF patient is 2-3 years, with only 30-40% survival at 5 years. These patients require close monitoring and management to prevent recurrent hospitalizations and mortality.
Speaking more on the occasion Dr Sandhu said that patients diagnosed in Fortis Hospital Ludhiana with heart failure will be treated in this special clinic, which will include highly trained and qualified doctors and staff to handle such patients to see that patients treatment and medication plan are appropriate according to patient condition and as per ACC heart failure Guidelines.
On the Occasion Dr Mohan Lal shared his over 30 years’ clinical experience in all aspects of Clinical Cardiology and Non-Invasive Cardiac Diagnostics in Jammu City.
