Former Praja Parishad leader Manhas passes away

JAMMU, Dec 13: Janak Singh Manhas a leader of Praja Parishad Movement of 1953 and a staunch activist of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and father of former BJP State president, Shamsher Singh Manhas passed away here today. He was 85. Janak Singh Manhas was ill for quite some time.
His cremation was performed at Shakti Ghat Cremation Ground at Shakti Nagar this afternoon. The funeral procession started from his residence at Paloura Top which besides RSS and BJP senior leaders was attended by people from all walks of life.
Among the prominent BJP leaders who attended his cremation included Party state president Jugal Kishore Sharma, Leader of its Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, National Executive Member and chief spokesperson of the Party, Dr Jitendra Singh, general secretary (org) Ashok Koul, senior vice president C P Ganga and other leaders Kavinder Gupta, Bali Bhagat,  Parshotam Didichi, Ramesh Arora, Pramodh Kapahi, Yudhvir Sethi, Aseem Gupota, Chander Mohan Gupta, Pawan Gupta, Pawan Khajuria, Col (retd) Uttam Singh, Karan Singh, Chander Mohan Sharma, Shiv Kumar Gupta,  all the district presidents and other activists of the Party.
The BJP later in a condolence meeting recalled his role in Praja Parishad movement and in Jana Sangh. They said Mr Manhas was among respectable RSS leader in Jammu.
