Former Health Minister seeks media gag

SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Former Health Minister and Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Rajouri constituency, Shabir Ahmad Khan, who is facing trial in molestation case moved an application before the court seeking restraining of media from publishing proceedings of the case.
Former Minister is facing a trail in molestation case of a lady doctor before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar.
“The accused had been the Minister of State for Health and due to registration of the present case, on his own resigned from Council Ministers after charge of molestation surfaced against him”, says the application.
“The charge sheet under Section 509 and 354 has been finally presented before this court by the police station Shaheed Gunj Srinagar”, the application reads.
The MLA states that “from the day of trail/enquiry in the present case by The court, the print media has started parallel media trial against the petitioner thereby damaging his status in the society”. He further states that serious prejudice has been caused to him because of the publication of the proceedings of the case in the print media.
The Court has the matter for hearing in next week.
