KATHUA, Jan 22: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr.Nirmal Singh today said that the State Government has completed all the formalities for two smart cities in the State.
Talking to reporters at the sidelines of party meeting at Billawar today, he said the State Government had submitted the proposal in this regard to Union Urban Development Ministry during last month regarding two smart cities of Jammu and Srinagar. A team of State Government officers from his Ministry led by Commissioner Secretary, UEED, Hridesh Kumar had visited the Union Capital to submit the proposal in Union Urban Development Ministry. But they refused to take the same saying that the submission of proposals for third term will start in March and till that time there is no fun of submitting the same.
The Ministry returned the proposal asking the State Government officers to study it further and check that there are not any shortcomings in the proposal and submit it in the month of March when the Ministry will call for the same.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that there was no delay on the part of State Government in furnishing the proposal as we have completed all the exercise in this regard. However the initial delay was after Centre had sanctioned one smart city for the State and we pressed for two cities. So in first two lots the J&K remained behind. After the Centre conceded the demand we started the exercise for both capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar and have completed all the formalities in this regard. The proposal will be submitted in March now and we are hopeful that the same will be conceded, he added.
Earlier Deputy CM attended the BJP Pahari District Unit’s Working Committee meeting at Billawar in presence of district president and MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal. In the meeting representatives and members from Billawar, Basohli and Bani areas were present.
Dr. Nirmal Singh highlighted the achievements and the schemes launched by the State Coalition Government in his address to the Working Committee. He said that clearing the total chaos and mis-management a legacy of the previous Government will take time. The good work being done by the State Government has started showing results, he added.
The power blackouts have become rare and the roads which are being now laid out will last for very long as international specifications are being strictly adhered to. The Deputy Chief Minister said after a gap of many years elections to the grass root forums like Panchayats are being planned and will be held in the very near future so that the problems at the village level get addressed meaningfully and effectively. The BJP is committed to the democracy and to ensure that welfare measures reach to the poorest and last man in the queue is its commitment, he added.
He further stated that the party is committed to Ek Atam Manavad of Pt. Deen Dayal Updhayaya which means unity, upliftment and enlightenment of the soul.
