JAMMU, Feb 27: The police claimed to have arrested two persons involved in attack on Government officials including SDM, DFO, a police officer and other Forest and Police personnel by the land grabbers and their supporters at Raika near Sidhra on Thursday while the Forest and Police joint team again smashed structure being rebuild by the land encroachers on Forest land in Sunjwan area here today.
A police officer said that Bagh-e-Bahu police has registered an FIR No. 18/2015 under Sections 353/ 332/147/148/ 149/ 336/427/ 447-A RPC and 6/39 Forest Act against at least seven accused persons identified so far. He said the investigation has been started and some more names are likely to figure. He said so far two persons have been arrested for attack on Government officials at Raika and also damaging vehicles and a JCB during anti-encroachment operation being launched under the supervision of SDM East, Jammu.
Those arrested were identified as Aman Ullah and Inayat Ullah, both sons of Barkat Ali, residents of Raika village near Batra hospital in Sidhra. He said the police was conducting raids to nab other accused persons including Bagh Hussain and his sons.
DFO Jammu, Dr VS Senthil Kumar when contacted said that at Sunjwan under in Khasra No. 371 and Forest Compartment No.5 of Bahu Range, the land grabbers whose structure was demolished yesterday again started work today. The Range Officer came to know about the matter and the Forest officials also contacted the SDM. Then the Forest and police team led by Sub Divisional Magistrate against rushed to the site and demolished the structure being rebuilt there. Three kanal forest land had been grabbed there by the accused persons. A fresh FIR has been registered against the accused persons namely Showkat Ali, son of Allah Rakha and Abdul Majid, son of Mir Ali, residents of Sunjwan.
