JAMMU, Oct 25: Former SSP and prominent social worker Bhupinder Singh appealed the people to focus on selecting good candidates for the next 6 years.
He said this while interacting with the people in different areas of Suchetgarh constituency.
Accusing the leaders of being self-centric, Singh took pot shots on those leaders who make false promises and indulge in corrupt practices.
He appealed the people not to get lured by false promises made by the politicians as from today onwards, Model Code of Conduct has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh further stated that this is not the time for the sitting MLAs to deliver as they already had six years. “If they failed for all these years, how can they deliver in one month? It is like bribing voters”, he added.
He added that before delivering lofty speeches and making pompous promises during election time, politicians now need to be extra careful as some concerned sections of society are keeping audio and video recordings of the speeches made by leaders during electioneering, so that they can be held accountable for these later on.
He said that promises like providing jobs to unemployed youths, regularizing services of Village Defence Committee (VDC) members, Special Police Officers (SPOs), ReT teachers, NYC Volunteers and daily wagers who are working in various Government departments for the last many years have proved false. Thousands of unemployed engineers, dental doctors and MBBS doctors are already posing a big difficulty for Civil Administration as they are repeatedly holding protests against the Government, he added.
He appealed the people to be aware of the leaders, who try to befool masses with false promises.
Singh also appealed to such leaders, not to make fun of the poor for whom they failed to do anything. He said leader must take one step at a time and focus on development, rather than on controversial issues.
