FMPHWs continue protest on 50th day, start postcard campaign

JAMMU, Oct 15: The protest dharna of Jammu and Kashmir Female Multipurpose Health Workers’ in support of their demands entered 50th day today with thousands of workers across Jammu province started posting postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to solve their burning demands.
Led by Sushil Sudan, president, JKMEF, and Neelam Kumari, president, FMPHWs’ Welfare Association, the Female Multipurpose Health Workers staged protest in office complex of Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Jammu.

They raised slogans against Government for not fulfilling their long pending demands including permanent solution of salary head 2211, delinking the CSS salary from the funding sources (Corpus-delinking), fixation of job functions of FMPHWs at par with other working categories of Health Sector, up gradation of the post of FMPHW on the analogy of Pharmacist, Lab Tech X-Ray Tech, Dental Tech and Ophth Tech.
They also demanded creation of post of LHVs in new PHCs, publication of seniority list of FMPHWs in the official website of the Health Department for bringing transparency in promotions, 50% quota to be allotted in favour of trained LHVs at par with MMPHSs promoted as Health Educators and amendment of SRO 20 dated 20-04-1992 which is pending in the administrative department for last 27 years.
The protesting workers wrote and posted postcards to PM Narendra Modi and J&K Governor SP Malik urging them to solve their burning demands.
Addressing the protesting workers, Sushil Sudan said that more than 5000 post cards were posted today and this process will continue till the demands of the FMPHWs are not fulfilled. He also appealed all the medical employees to observe strike in all the health institutions of the Jammu province in first half of the day on October 17 to create pressure on the authorities.
Sudan also asked them to get ready to proceed towards Kashmir for Secretariat gherao on October 24. He appealed Governor SP Malik to intervene into the matter and resolve their demands before October 24.
