Srinagar, Apr 29:Dozens of victims of September 2014 floods today staged a protest against the non-payment of flood relief instalment in Kakapora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The flood victims, who include local shopkeepers, today took to streets and staged anti-Government protest. There was a complete shutdown in area while the protesters also blocked main road by erecting barriers and halted traffic movement.
The victims alleged that the second instalment of flood relief was not issued by the Government in their favour and warned of intensified agitation if the same would not be done in coming days.
The road halt by protesters led to the stranding of traffic for several hours, which resulted in massive inconvenience to the commuters including students. The protesters however later removed road barriers but there was a complete shutdown today.
