First ever valve replacement surgery conducted in GMC

JAMMU, Jan 22: The Department of Cardio Thoracic Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Super Specialty Hospital, Government Medical College, Jammu today performed first ever valve replacement surgery successfully in the Department using New Heart Lung Machine.
“The patient is responding to the treatment and would recover fully in the next few days,” the doctors said describing the surgery as major success.
The team of doctors, which performed the maiden valve replacement surgery in the CTVS Department comprised HoD CTVS Dr Noor Ali, Dr IA Mir, Dr Arvind Kohli, Dr Mohit Arora, Dr Vivek Gandotra and Dr Baber. The cardiac Anesthesia team was led by Dr Puja Vimesh.
The heart lung machine was operated by Charanjeet Singh, Per Fusionist and his team including theatre staff.
The team was guided by Government Medical College Principal Dr Zahid H Gilani and given all assistance by Dr Manoj Chalotra, Superintendent, SSH Jammu.
Doctors said it was a very tough procedure but they conducted the surgery successfully and announced that more such surgeries would also be conducted in the Department in future.
