First ever Hackathon concludes

JAMMU, Apr 7: The first ever Hackathon organised by the Planning Commission and the National Innovation Council today concluded at the University of Jammu and 10 other Institutions located around India with the presentation of proposals which  were prepared over 24 hours in the last two days by the participants .
The proposals were in the sectors of Agriculture and Rural Development, Water and Environment and Education and Skills.
The team made presentations in categories as short films, visualizations, Web applications, Infographics and so on. The team-warriors comprising of Abhishekh Parihar, Ritika Pathania, Sumeet Sharma and Vasu Sharma were declared as the winners while as the Team-Moonpeak from Dharamshala and Himachal University were declared as runner up respectively.
The University of Jammu was among 10 other top Institutions of the country selected for conducting the two-days Nationwide event. The other institutions besides the University of Jammu included IIT Delhi, Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, TISS Mumbai, IIT Hyderabad, IISc Bangalore, IIT Madras & though virtual/online participation.
On this occasion,  Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu chaired the presentations and spoke in detail about various contours of the Hackathon and the presentations were adjudged by  Seema Shekhar, Additional Advocate General,  Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief, Times Now,  Anil Suri, President, Bari Brahmana Industries Association , and  DR Khajuria, COO, Airtel.
The organizing team comprising of Prof Devanand, Director, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector, Kathua Campus, Prof B C Sharma, Dean Placement,  Guneet Sudan,  Vinay Thusoo and  Ranjeet Kalra were also present on the occasion.
