First Convocation of IIM Sirmaur held

SIRMAUR (HP), Apr 8: The 1st Annual Convocation of Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur, was held here today where the first outgoing batch of twenty students were awarded Diplomas.
Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, who was chief guest on the occasion, delivered the Convocation Address and assured full support for the development and the growth of the institute in the coming years and help IIM Sirmaur in realizing its vision of becoming a bellwether of management education in the country.
In all, 20 students of IIM Sirmaur received Diplomas in Post Graduate Programme in Management. Roziwala Suraj Hiralal was awarded as Batch Topper while Anas Ahmad was awarded for Best All-round Perofrmance.
The institute had started its operations in 2015 and with this outgoing batch of 2017, IIM Sirmaur has got its first alumni base which will be serving community dedicatedly through their contributions in various domains.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, highlighted the initiatives at IIM Sirmaur. She emphasized on integrating Management education with local and global aspirations. She added that IIM Sirmaur strives to deliver quality education training and research in Management in an enabling environment, with focus on indigenous areas and innovative practices, to develop sensitive corporate leaders and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
While congratulating the passing out batch, Professor Rohmetra said that, “Life is all about taking small little firm steps that are in the right direction and lead us towards the desired vision”.
Chairman of Board of Governors of IIM Sirmaur, Ajay S Shriram said he was confident that with its establishment (IIM Sirmaur), a new era in Management education in India would begin. He mentioned that the presence of the Chief Minister is a reflection of the importance attached to IIMS.
Dr Anil Dattaraya Sahasrabudhe, AICTE Chairman; Vinayak Chatterjee, Chairman, Feedback Infra (P) Ltd; Vidya Stokes, Irrigation & Public Health Minister, Horticulture, Information Technology of H.P, besides officials of district administration, and members of civil society attended the convocation function.
