Fire breaks out in Ward No 5 of GMC

JAMMU, Dec 6: A minor fire broke out today in Ward No 5 of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu but no loss was reported.
According to the reports, the fire broke out this evening in a store in Ward No 5, where broken beds, damaged furniture, used mattresses, etc were stored for disposal. Noticing the smoke, the panicked patients and attendants in Ward No 5 informed the hospital staff.
The alert staff and security persons swung into action and doused the flames within 10-15 minutes. According to official sources, there was no loss of property in the fire. “Nobody was hurt in the fire, as our alert staff doused the flames timely”, a hospital spokesman said.
On the reasons of fire, he said that it is difficult to say what causes the fire but prima facie it appears that fire broke out due to some piece of ignited cigarette or ‘beedi’ thrown by any patient or attendant.
