JAMMU, Dec 27: Army has once again showed its humane side by rescuing a woman and three children from a fire incident at Gurez.
According to Defence spokesman, a fire broke out in the house of Ganni Wani, son of Abdul Rahim Wani at PTL village in Gurez Sector due to lighting up of animal fodder kept in top story by overheated smoke exhaust pipe of bukhari. During the time of incident, a lady namely Taza Begum aged around 50 years and three children were present in the house.
Without wasting time, a team of soldiers equipped with fire extinguishers and other fire-fighting equipment rushed to the spot and simultaneous action of informing the Civil Fire Department was taken.
A fire tender alongwith State Police representative also reached the spot, but by that time, the Army column had already controlled the fire and the situation had been brought under control.
The woman and children who were trapped in the fire were rescued by the Army and provided first aid.
The immediate response by the Army averted injuries to the victims and also prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby houses thus ensuring safety of life and property.
