FIR against NC workers for raising ‘Azadi’ slogans

POONCH, Aug 27: Over a dozen workers of National Conference have been booked for allegedly raising ‘pro-Azadi’, slogans during a protest against the move to repeal Article 35-A at Mendhar town of district Poonch.

A police officer said that a case has been registered against over a dozen of National Conference workers, who raised ‘pro-Azadi’ slogans during a protest demonstration against the onslaughts of Article 35- A on Saturday on a call of NC MLA from Mendhar, Javed Rana.
“We have taken the cognizance of the matter and have registered a case under FIR No. 145 /2018 under Sections 120- B, 124- A at Police Station Mendhar against the NC Workers,” the officer said.
He said the investigation has been launched to identify all the accused and law will take its course. He further claimed that some video clippings have also been managed by police investigation team and some of the youth have been identified. They tried to disturb the peace in the area and they will be arrested shortly.
It may be recalled that on Saturday, Mendhar town observed complete bandh on the call given by National Conference. The workers forcibly closed some shops. During bandh a protest march was taken out by the NC workers and during protest, some youth raised pro-Azadi and anti-India slogans near Girls Higher Secondary School in the main market.
