JAMMU, Nov 1: Finals of various competitions were witnessed on the day-4 of the ongoing 1st Inter Polytechnic Annual Sports Meet “Sportech” at Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk here.
On the fourth day of the meet, Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk along with Er Inderjeet Singh, Er KS Bhatia Sports Secretary, Guminderpreet Kour PEM and Toshi Devi PET interacted with players of various participating teams.
In Cricket Tournament, the second semifinal was played between GP Jammu and GP Udhampur in which GP Jammu won the match by 10 wickets. Owais Ahmad of GP Jammu was declared as Man of the Match for his brilliant performance as he scored 23 runs. The final match will now be played between GP Kishtwar and GP Jammu.
In Table Tennis Tournament, the first match of the day was played between Parav Bhal from ASC Polytechnic and Aryan Gupta from GP Udhampur in which Aryan Gupta emerged winner by 11-6, 11-8 and 11-7. In the second match Vishal Dogra from GP Jammu defeated Shivam Harkar from GP Jammu by 11-8, 11-4 and 11-1. The overall winner of the tournament was declared as Aryan Gupta from GP Udhampur and runner ups were Vishal Dogra from G P Jammu and Parav Bhal from ASC Polytechnic.
In Volleyball Tournament final, GP Doda defeated GP Udhampur by 25-17, 25-16 and 25-12. Ishtiaq Bhat and Arshad wani from GP Doda wreaked havoc on the hopes of G P Udhampur, raising the temperature of the crowd who enjoying every moment of the final.
In Carom Tournament, the final match in boys category was played between Azhar Mehmood and Amanjot Singh from GP Jammu and Sahil Dubey and Sorav Shrama from GP Kathua. GP Jammu won the match and lifted the title trophy of the tournament. In girls final match, Payal Manhas and Pupinder Kour from GP Jammu lost to Liza Talashi and Lara Talashi from GWP Jammu.
In Badminton Tournament, GP Jammu girls team and GWP Jammu girls team reached in final, whereas in singles, Nancy Koul from GP Jammu won the match against Farheen from GWP Jammu by 16-7 and 16-10. In doubles, Zeenat and Nehhan from GWP Jammu defeated Kiran and Taniya from GP Jammu by 21-18, 21-13 and 21-15.
In Rangoli Competition, the first prize was shared by the team of Payal Manhas, Sakshi Sathoo, Kiran, Shikha, Neha Mora, Rizwana and Ayushi from GP Jammu and Sakshi Manhas, Shabnam Digra, Sonali Sharma, Sunpreet Kour, Sana Gupta, Simran, Shruti Gupta, Riya Bhat, Sanjana and Samiksha from GWP Jammu, whereas second prize was won by Komal, Panvi, Vishali and Rashika from Travel and Tourism Department team from GP Jammu and third prize was bagged by Palvi, Sonia, Priyanka, Bharti, Neha and Nirmal from GP Jammu. The competition was judged by Er Jasdeep Kour, Er Vandana Chib and Er Itika Sharma.
In Wall Painting Competition, the first prize was won by Vinay Bhargav, while the team of Sunil Kumar Sangral, Imran tariq, Akshay and Anuradha and the team of Swati, Sapna, Shivam, Gurjeet and Kamal from GP Jammu shared the second prize. The competition was judged by Er Ritika Wadera, Er Akash Dusgotra, Er Amit Sharma and Er Jasdeep Kour.
The prize distribution of the meet will be held tomorrow in the college auditorium in which winners and runners up will be awarded with trophies and medals.
