Fila Thiksay wins Akbar Ladakhi T20 Cup

LEH, Jan 23: Fila Thiksay lifted the 4th Akbar Ladakhi T20 Cup played at Ranbirpura Thiksay today.
The final match was played between Chushot Friends and Fila Thiksay.
The month long tournament organized by Jaffaria Association Thiksay witnessed participating of 24 teams including a Nepali team in four different categories.
Earlier, batting first, Chushot Friends made 98 runs in stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the target Fila Thiksay won the match by 3 wickets in 18.3 overs. Wasim  Akram Malik of Friends Chushot was adjudged as man of the series, while Mohd Hassan as man of the match. Yahar  Hussain Zuba Thiksay Fila was awarded as upcoming player besides Chushot team was awarded as best disciplined  team during the tournament. Winner team was awarded with cash prize of Rs15000,while the runners-up team Friends Chushot was awarded Rs10,000.
SSP Leh Udhay Bhaskar Billa was the chief guest on the occasion, while Anjuman Imamiya, President Asharf Ali Barcha was the guest of honour. Anjuman Imamiya, Youth President, Advocate Muzzafar Hussian, DySP HQ Peer Zahoor, DySP DAR, former LAHDC EC Abbas Abidi, former Sarpanch Javed and other guests were present to witness the final match today.
Addressing the players SSP appreciated the organizer and players for conducting the tournament in spite of hostile condition. He said that as part of civic action programme Police department will participate in the tournament from next year as it keep the youth busy distracting from bad habits like drugs abuse and alcohols. He assured to support such tournament if comes with proposal to boost the tournament.
Anjuman Imamiya President Ashraf Ali Barcha highly appreciated the organizer for organising such tournament successfully in such challenging season and added that winter is a challenge here and when children get free they may engage in bad activities but such tournament keeps them busy and fit.
He also added that 24 teams participation makes good bonding between different regions of Ladakh and urged the organizers to continue the Tournament that keeps the village in limelight making the village popular in Ladakh through such sports.
Talking to media persons Jaffaria Association President, Zakir Hussain Wanlapa said that the objective of the tournament was to pay tribute to late leader Akbar Ladakhi and also keep the youth busy in positive activity.
