Father, son hurt in leopard attack

RAJOURI, Jan 8: A villager and his son were seriously injured when they were attacked by a leopard at Islampur village in Pangai area of Thannamandi today.
A police spokesman said that 48 year-old Mohd Sharief was attacked by full grown leopard when he moved to his nearby field at around 6.15 am this morning. He cried for help and his 16-year-old son Mohd Ashraf rushed to the site with a lathi to save his father. But he too, was attacked and rendered injured. Both father and son kept fighting with the wild beast for some time then other family members and neighbours rushed there with lathis and rescued them and the leopard escaped towards nearby jungle.
Both the injured were removed to Thannamandi and then to Rajouri hospital. One of them was later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu.
