JAMMU, Feb 25: Deputy Chief Minister and veteran BJP leader, Dr Nirmal Singh today described as “anti-national” the statement of National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah that new generation of the militants was fighting for independence.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Singh said three generations of Abdullah family have ruled Jammu and Kashmir for 30 years and now when they were out of power, they have started talking of independence.
“The statement is ridiculous and condemnable,” the Deputy Chief Minister said adding Farooq Abdullah has spoken the language of militants, which is an “anti-national act”
He recalled that when in power, Dr Abdullah had called for bombardment in Pakistan and destroying terrorist camps there but now when he is out of power, he has started speaking the “language of militants.”
Dr Nirmal Singh said the Jammu based leadership of National Conference including party’s provincial president Devender Singh Rana owed an explanation to the people of Jammu as to whether he supports the “anti-national statement” of Dr Farooq Abdullah.
“The NC leadership of Jammu must explain whether they support the statement of Farooq. They should clear their stand as this was very sensitive matter,” Nirmal Singh said.
He said for “petty political gains”, the National Conference was trying to create trouble in the Kashmir valley.
