Ajmer, Dec 31: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah today visited the Dargah of Gareeb Nawaz Hazrat Khwaja Moiunuddin Chishti (RA) at Ajmer and prayed for sustained peace in Kashmir.
He prayed for the victims of the unrest in Kashmir and sustained peace and stability in the State and the region.
“Gareeb Nawaz Hazrat Khwaja Moiunuddin Chishti (RA) was a beacon of spirituality, kindness and amity and his teachings continue to guide us towards mutual brotherhood, spiritual atonement and the pursuit of kindness. I prayed for Kashmir and for the entire region as we are passing through a very tumultuous phase”, Farooq said while talking to reporters in Ajmer.
Responding to certain questions he condemned the use of brutal forces and PSA against the youth of the State and said such repressive measures would compound the already fragile situation in the State and further alienated the youth. “Pellets should be banned immediately and the Government should engage with the youth rather than arresting them and imposing PSA on them”, Dr. Farooq said.
He hoped the new year would bring tidings of peace and prosperity for the State.
