JAMMU, Mar 11: Former minister and senior  National Conference leader, Ajay Sadhotra has alleged that  BJP Government at the Centre and PDP-BJP  in the State have totally failed to fulfill the genuine demands of the farmers.
“The farmers are feeling the sense of deceit by the BJP Government at the Centre and PDP-BJP Government in the state,” said former MLA Marh while addressing a meeting of prominent workers at Channu Chak in Marh Sub Division.
Sadhotra said that during election campaign of Parliament and State Assembly, BJP made tall promises with the farmers to promote their interests and uplift their economic condition. It is unfortunate that now more than three years have completed, the BJP has utterly failed to rise up to the genuine expectations of the farmers.
National Conference leader said a Ring Road is going to be constructed  at Jammu crossing through different villages affecting more than 2000 farmers whose agricultural land shall come in the road. The affected farmers have farming as their only source of income, once land is acquired they will starve for their bread and butter as the government is giving very meager amount as compensation.
Former Minister said the affected farmers have been knocking the doors of many and going from pillar to post demanding that the land compensation should be given as per the market value not circle value, but nobody is listening to affected farmers and BJP-PDP government have turned deaf ear to their problems and is trying to forcibly acquire and take possession of their agricultural land.
Few days back, the Government agencies went to Hira Chack village in Marh Block to take forcible possession of the land where a clash occurred between the farmers and the agencies which is very bad, he said.
Sadhotra said that canals, irrigation Channels and Khuls are cleaned (de-silted) every year but it is very unfortunate that since last three years, these have not been properly de-silted and farmers face shortage of irrigation water.
Others who spoke on the occasion included  Swarn Singh, Charan Dass, Bushan Sharma, Puran Chand, Ch Nazir Ali, Raj Kumar and others.
