Farmers call on Advisor to Governor

JAMMU, Aug 28: A delegation of farmers of Jammu province under the leadership of Tajindert Singh Wazir president Kissan Coucil met the Advisor, to Governor, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai here, today and appraised him of the grim scenario prevailing in agriculture & allied sectors because of acute delay in release of Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) funds as assistance to farmers for implementation of various welfare and development schemes.
They impressed that the Kharif season was almost over and despite of commitments by the Government, much attention was required at the ground level. The farmers appealed the Advisor to personally look into the timely release of funds . They said in
Jammu province one third land is dry land (rain fed) and schemes like Pardhan Mantri Krishi Sanchie Yojna is only on papers as no single penny has been utilized in this scheme at ground level .
Farmers Informed the Advisor that too many young entrepreneurs are coming with attraction of doubling farmer’s income till 2022 by adopting protected cultivation in high value vegetables and flowers which need end to end support of technical and financial assistance on time with consultancy.
Farmers demand for focus paper on tapping the potential of commercial floriculture in Jammu with regard to demand and supply change need financial assistance as per the need of flower growers of region.
Referring to the tremendous potential of entrepreneurship development and commercialization in floriculture sector in the State with special reference to Jammu division, the Council demanded that serious steps be initiated right from planning to execution level for harnessing of this potential.
The delegation was accompanied by Devi Dass, a prominent farmer leader, Ashwani Sharma, former Sarpanch, Avtar Singh Chairman Panchayat, Kuldip Raj, Baldev Raj, Ashok Kumar besides others.
