RAMBAN, Aug 13: Suspecting something fishy, the family members and relatives of a teenage girl, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence yesterday, held protest at Karol and blocked the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Click here to watch video
Carrying dead body of the deceased girl identified as Simran Devi (class 9th student), daughter of Om Singh, a resident of Karol, family members accompanied by relatives and locals assembled at Karol and blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, leading to traffic snarls.
They said that the girl allegedly committed suicide due to some tensions, which she can’t bear anymore. They added that four years back, the cousin brother of the deceased girl was also found hanging at same place, but the matter was investigated thoroughly.
The protestors were demanding thorough probe into the death of the teenage girl and her cousin brother.
After getting information, ADC Ramban accompanied by Additional SP Ramban and DySP Headquarters rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protestors, but the latter remained adamant and did not lift the protest.
Later, Additional SP informed that the protestors that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, which will conduct fair probe in both the deaths.
On the assurance of fair probe, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
