DODA, Jan 17: The family members accompanied by other people held protest after dead body of a youth with injury marks was found from village Kum-Shalli area of Tehsil Kastigarh, late last night.
As per police sources, a 24-year-old youth namely Majid Hussain, son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Kashtigarh was spotted dead in the fields near his house in village Kum-Shalli by some people late last night.
The people informed the police and a team from Police Post Kashtigarh rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to District Hospital Doda, where after completing legal formalities the body was handed over to family members for last rites.
As the news of the death of youth spread, the family members of the deceased along with other people carrying the dead body of the youth held protest and blocked the road near District Development Officer (DDC) office.
The protestors alleged that the youth has been allegedly murdered and were demanding immediate arrest of the killers.
After getting information DDC Doda Anshul Garg along with SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir Malik and other officers from the district administration rushed to the spot and assured the protestors of conducting a fair and impartial probe into the death of the youth.
SSP informed that a case under section 302 RPC (murder) has been registered at Doda Police Station and investigation started.
While talking to media persons, DDC expressed grief over the incident. He said that questioning of the suspicious elements is going on and the investigation into the case will be concluded in the shortest possible time, by putting the accused persons behind the bars.
“Multiple police teams have been constituted to investigate the matter and arrest the accused, who had tried to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the area”, he added.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored on the road.
Later, the body of the youth was consigned to flames at his native village in presence of thousands of mourners.
