LOS ANGELES, Nov 2: “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins says she is “extremely distressed” with the recent sexual harassment allegations against director and producer Brett Ratner.
The filmmaker has been accused of misconduct by six women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, according to a Los Angeles Times report.
Days before the allegations were made, Jenkins presented Ratner with the tree of life award at a dinner for the Jewish National Fund after actor Gal Gadot dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
Jenkins took to Twitter to express her shock and said she was not aware of any such allegations.
“I’m extremely distressed to read these terrible allegations against Brett Ratner. When I spoke of Brett, I spoke of my own experiences with him, which were not these at all. I have never witnessed nor been aware of anything that is now being described,” Jenkins wrote.
The director said she has not personally experienced misconduct from Ratner, but emphasised she believes the women who spoke out.
“To be very clear, I am definitely not okay with this kind of behaviour. Sexual harassment and assault are never okay and I stand with and defend all of the men and women who are revealing these horrific encounters all over this industry and this world. I hope their disclosures bring about real change for all of us, and I am deeply grateful to them for their bravery,” she concluded. (PTI)
