Experts from J&K to develop competitive water sports in Lakshadweep

JAMMU, Mar 8: A high level team of Water Sports Experts lead by Indian Coach, Bilquis Mir from Kashmir and Captain Vagaram Bishnoi, Asian Medalist from Port Blair left for a four day Survey and recommendatory visit for developing competitive water sports like Kayaking and Canoeing in Lakshadweep islands.
The team has been deputed by the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association Secretary, Balbir Singh Kushwaha on a request from Lakshadweep Sports & Youth Affairs Advisor Ranjeet Kalra.
“I, on behalf of Lakshadweep Government and Administrator, Farooq Khan, am thankful to the Premier Water Sports body of the Country for accepting our request for initiating the process and guiding us in developing Water Sports in Lakshadweep, a region full of potential and natural water bodies ideal for the Competitive water Sports .” Kalra said.
It is pertinent to mention here that
Lt Governor-Administrator of UT of Lakshadweep, Farooq Khan has taken many new steps to develop a culture of Sports and Youth engagement in Lakshadweep including opening of new Sports Authority of India Centres, expert Football Coaching Centres and Intra Island Cricket Tournaments in the region.
