Expert Panel to study GST

JAMMU, July 24: To study all aspects of GST, its implications and forward action required on part of the State Government, an expert committee has been constituted with B B Vyas, Financial Commissioner, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, as it Chairman.
The committee would study implication for ability of the State Government to levy taxes as per the Constitutional Provisions of J&K and suggest whether the State should decide to go for adopting the GST.
The Committee would submit its comprehensive recommendation to the Government (Finance Department) within a period of no more than six weeks from the date of its constitution.
The seven-member committee comprised Administrative Secretary, Finance Department; Bashir Ahmad, former Commissioner Commercial Taxes (presently with GST Council); R K Gupta, Senior Chartered Accountant; Zaffar Ahmad Bhat, former Commissioner, Commercial Taxes; Mohammad Ashraf Mir, president Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kashmir and Anil Suri, former Chairman of Bari Brahmana Industries Association, Jammu.
