JAMMU, Jan 28: National Conference MLA Mian Altaf Ahmed today raised the issue of exorbitant air fare on Jammu-Srinagar sector and sought the intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
As soon as the discussion on the grants of the departments under the change of Chief Minister began in the Legislative Assembly, Mian Altaf said, “Airlines Ne To Tabahi Hi Macha Di Hai”.
“Due to closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the aviation companies operating on Jammu-Srinagar and vice-versa routes are hell bent to loot the people by charging anything between Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per ticket”, he said, adding “I have come to know that they are now even charging much more”.
Seeking immediate intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who was also present in the House, the National Conference MLA asked, “how a poor or ailing person or student can afford to pay such a hefty amount”, adding “this is quite unfortunate that Government is not taking this grave issue seriously”.
