Excise officials conduct raids in Bishnah, RS Pura

JAMMU, Feb 21: To curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor and illegal smuggling of liquor from other states, Excise Department today conducted a series of raids in Bishnah and RS Pura Excise Ranges.
The raids were conducted at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Kothey Bulandae, Lalyana, Salehar, Tarachak, Sheikhpura, Shibuchak and Joian by Excise team led by ETO City Excise Range South, Rohit Sharma and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Dr Suraj Chander Singh. They were assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspector Parshant Mathur.
The raids were conducted under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K, T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh.
During the course of raids, two persons namely Neelam Kumari wife of late Surjeet Kumar, resident of Salehar and Ayodhya Devi wife of late Bachan Lal, resident of Joian, were arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act. Four bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession.
Besides this, about 300 kg of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious to health were recovered by the raiding team and destroyed on the spot.
