Ex-ZEO among two killed in mishaps

JAMMU, June 5: Two persons including an ex-ZEO were killed today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police official, an i10 car bearing registration number JK17-6360, which was being driven in a negligent manner by Zakir Hussain, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Kishtwar, from Udhampur towards Jammu, on reaching Salora in Jhajjar Kotli area hit a CRPF jawan, who was on patrolling duty.
He said in the mishap which occurred this evening, the CRPF jawan identified as Constable Kishore Kumar of 137 Battalion died on the spot. “After getting conducted postmortem in SDH Dansal, the body of the jawan was handed over to the CRPF authorities”, he said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and the accused car driver was arrested.
Meanwhile, an ex- Zonal Education Officer namely Shahnawaz Khan son of Mohd Khan, resident of Manjakote, was killed this morning when a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BS-8880, in which he was travelling, collided with a stationary truck (registration number JK03C-8380) in Chowki Choura area of Akhnoor.
After getting conducted postmortem at SDH Akhnoor, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigations started.
