Ex-PDP Minister refuses to participate in debate

JAMMU, Jan 3:  Apparently peeved over his being out of Government, the former Minister and senior PDP MLA Javed Mustafa Mir today refused to participate in the Assembly debate on ‘Kashmir unrest’ by stating that he did not know on which side he was.
“I don’t know which side (opposition or treasury benches) I belong to,” he said when Speaker Kavinder Gupta named him for his turn to speak on the debate.
As the remark invited some witty comments from other members, Javed Mustafa, who is MLA for the third consecutive time, complained that he was not listed for participation in the debate as per his seniority.
Even as a PDP colleague sought to convenience the annoyed Javed Mustafa by stating that name of the later was listed on number one, the former minister quipped that if such was the case, then he would have to boycott the proceedings in protest against change in sequence of speakers.
However, before the situation could invite any dilemma for the ruling PDP, Speaker Kavinder Gupta adjourned the House for the day.
