Ex-MLC discusses issues of DPs of 1947 with Div Com

JAMMU, Mar 18:  Former MLC and chief spokesperson of PCC,   Ravinder Sharma  called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu,  Dr Pawan Kotwal  today and discussed the hardships being faced by DPs of 1947 from PoJK  with regard to documentation and formalities required for applying for getting relief amount sanctioned by the Government.
Sharma brought to his notice  the difficulties being faced by DPs residing at Nowshera, Sunderbani and other parts in completing the formalities and getting certified copies of documents of the time of migration in 1947 and also confusion and lack of clarity on various aspects amongst the bonafide claimants.
Seeking simplification of the process Sharma put forth various suggestions to simplify and clarify procedure to the genuine claimants in  order to save time and money, and lot of avoidable hardships, as people have to wait for long time to get certified copies of more than 70 years old documents like form ‘A’ and loan ledger etc. from the PRO’s office, Jammu.
He also suggested that the certified copies of allotment/cancellation register of 1971 maintained in concerned Tehsil office should be treated as authentic proof of allotment record and other unnecessary documents should be dispersed with except details of accounts.
Divisional Commissioner gave patient hearing and said that authorities are open to entertain genuine suggestions to further simplify the procedure and also dispelled the impression that there is no cut off or final date for submission of claims, however the claimants should apply at the earliest.
