Ex-MLA alleges conspiracy to shift transformers from Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Nov 29: Former MLA Pawan Gupta today alleged a conspiracy to shift the two new transformers, which are to be installed in Udhampur Grid Station for improving the voltage and electricity supply.
While addressing a press conference, here today, he disclosed that the life of existing two transformers installed in Udhampur Power Grid 42 years back was declared expired in 2006 by the teams of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) of Government of India.
“After being elected MLA in 2014, I raised this issue in every meeting of District Development Board and also brought this issue into the notice of State Government as well as Government of India resulting into the job work approval for installation of two required transformers wroth rupees 14.50 crore,” he added.
Mr Gupta alleged that under a conspiracy, now attempts were being made to shift the new transformers to Poonch district. “I have brought this issue into the notice of Advisor to Governor and Commissioner Secretary Hardesh Kumar,” he said and warned stir if the transfers are shifted from Udhampur.
The ex-MLA also stressed that Grid Station Udhampur still requires 220/132 KVA 160 MVA transformers worth rupees 10 crore and the same be installed soon.
Pawan Gupta said that with the installation of these transformers in Udhampur Power Grid, the Small Scale Industries will be blessed with high voltage of electricity and regular supply.
