Ex-militant, 3 OGWs held in Rajouri with hawala money

JAMMU, May 12: Police and troops of 48 Rashtriya Rifles today busted a module of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant outfit involved in hawala money collection by arresting four persons including one former militant and three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and seized Rs one lakh worth hawala money from their possession.
Based on a specific information, a major operation was launched jointly by Rajouri police and Army and a trap was laid for the accused in Rajouri district.
At Kallar naka on Rajouri-Jammu road, the naka parties arrested four persons transacting hard -money (cash) when they were travelling in car No. 1092 JK22. They were subjected to sustained questioning

The accused were identified as ex-militant of Harkat Ul Mujahideen namely Ajaz Ahmed son of Ghulam Ali, resident of Batapora, Shopian who had surrendered in 2005 and also remained detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) during 2005-07.
Other three are OGWs of HM militant outfit namely Mohd Arif son of Mohd Younis, resident of Kotli Peer Badesar in Rajouri , Sajjad Ahmed Malla S/o Shakeel Ahmed Malla, resident of Maldera Shopian, who remained detained under PSA in 2016 and Khursheed Ahmed Thokar son of Ghulam Rasool Thokar, resident of Hefkuri, Shopian.
All the four including one ex militant and three OGWs were put to questioning by police team headed by SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas who divulged that Mohd Arif son of Mohd Yousaf resident of  Kotli Peer Badesar in Rajouri used to collect hawala money in Rajouri for militant  outfit after which same used to be sent to Kashmir valley for the militants of the same outfit.
During initial investigation, it has also come to fore that arrested Sajjad Ahmed Mala was in contact with HM outfit ‘Financial Head’ Khursheed Ahmed based in PoK and the contact between the duo was got established by militant commander Saddam Padder who was gunned down a week back in Shopian.
After killing of Saddam Paddar, Zeenat has taken over the command of HM in Shopian and it was on his instructions that the three OGWs from Shopian were sent to Rajouri for collection of hawala money.
Mohd Arif used to collect hawala money for militant outfits in Rajouri and the same was sent to Kashmir.
Further investigation in the Case FIR No.250/2018 under Section 13/17/18 Unlawful Activities Act of Police Station Rajouri is going on.
Police teams headed by DySP Operations Sukhdev Singh and DySP Headquarters Jaswant Singh along with   Additional SP Rajouri Mohd Yousuf  made the arrests under the supervision of SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas.
