JAMMU, Mar 15: Panun Kashmir (PK) has expressed its great satisfaction over the initiative of the US lawmaker Congressman Ted Poe, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism to introduce a Bill in the US Congress for declaration of Pakistan as a “State sponsor of terrorism”.
While addressing the press conference here today PK president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo and its national spokesperson, Virender Raina said that the move initiated by US is a paradigm shift in the thinking process at the global level regarding the situation in Pakistan which is responsible for harbouring, abetting and sponsoring terrorism in its neighbourhood and particularly in India. The call for a “stop to paying Pakistan by the United States for its betrayal and designate it for what it is:  a sponsor of terrorism” is a big success story of the Indian diplomacy aimed at to strengthen the global war against terror.
Ashwani Chrungoo said Pakistan’s role as a global key player in nourishing terrorism particularly against India for the last three decades has rightly come under the diplomatic and global political scanner. In this changed global political scenario, Panun Kashmir appeals to the Government of India to think drastically in terms of declaring the State of Pakistan as “a State sponsoring terror”, he added.
Pakistan has continuously taken refuge under the facade of non-State actor theory and has simultaneously pursued the path of terrorism as an important component of its foreign policy. The Kashmiri Pandit community has been the worst victim of terrorism in the Jammu and Kashmir State and its ethnic cleansing from Kashmir remains an unresolved issue. “We expect the Government to take a lead at this critical but congenial global atmosphere in favour of India and raise its concerns in this context in perfect perspective before the world at large”.
Virender Raina, national spokesperson, PK expressed serious concern over the issue of illegal immigration of Bangladeshis and Rohangyas in Jammu region. He said that the State Government was asked by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to prepare a report on the subject. The Government is supposed to put this issue on a fast track than to delay it due to political expediency. The nationalist forces in the State have been raising this issue at all available forums. Besides, being a threat to the demography of Jammu, it creates serious security concerns. It is also undoubtedly a threat to the “civilizational flow of Jammu”. We urge the Government to urgently complete the process of having an in-depth study of the situation and come out with the report on this issue to the satisfaction of the aspirations of the nationalist forces of the State.
