ESIC organizes awareness seminar at CTM

KATHUA, May 22: Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) today organized an awareness seminar here at Chenab Textile Mills (CTM).
The function was presided over by KC Sharma, executive president. CTM Deputy Director, Sindo Ram, gave an overview of various provisions of benefits available in the ESI Scheme. He also apprised the audience about certain changes made in the scheme particularly pertaining to super specialty treatment.
Stakeholders, however, expressed their deep concern on certain changes made in the provisions of the scheme which are against the interest of the ESI beneficiaries and demanded roll back of the same.
The stakeholders also showed resentment on non-starting of ESIC Model Dispensary (MDDC) in the second shift to enable at least 12 hours dispensary services in Kathua. They also complained that there is no availability of diagnostic/pathological test facility in MDDC for the last about three years. of its functioning nor was there any tie-up made in lieu thereof and the patients are mostly being made to travel long distance to ESIC Model Hospital, Jammu for even these primary tests.
Regional Director, ESIC, Arvind Kumar, gave an overview of the facilities and plans for Kathua area such as starting of ambulance services since last year, provision of adequate medicine in ESI Dispensary, getting approval of Regional Board for an ESI Hospital for Kathua-Samba cluster, steps for special repairs and modernization of ESI Dispensary building through CPWD etc.
Regarding running of two ESI Dispensaries in two shifts he stated that the matter has been taken up with the ESIC Hospital authorities under whom the MDDC functions. He also added that he would take up the issue of referrals to local tie-up hospitals by State ESI Dispensary.
Another awareness seminar was held in KC Residency at Katra where over 45 stakeholders were given presentation about the ESI Scheme and latest changes therein by Dr Om Prakash, State Medical Commissioner and Sunil K Mehto, Deputy Director.
Kunal Kumar, Branch Manager, ESIC Srinagar, organized awareness seminar at AEGIS, Rangreth, Srinagar among the stakeholders of Rangreth Industrial Area.
