JAMMU, Apr 12: Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has expanded its network in all the 22 districts of the State.
Starting its operation with about 7000 workers in three districts of Jammu, Kathua and Srinagar in the year 1989, the ESI Scheme further got expanded to five districts namely Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur of Jammu division and Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama in Kashmir division in March 2017.
The Scheme has now made its appearance in Municipal areas of the district headquarters of remaining 14 districts of the State namely Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban of Jammu division; Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Shopian of Kahshmir division and Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh division.
Regional Director ESIC, J&K MK Arya told the media that under the Scheme, cash benefit to insured persons and their dependent is provided through three Branch offices at Jammu, Kathua, Srinagar and three Pay offices at Udhampur, Samba and Katra. Medical benefit is provided through a 50 bedded ESI Model Hospital at Bari Brahmana and 09 ESI Dispensaries, four in Srinagar, two in Kathua and three in Jammu.
Further tie up arrangement for secondary care and super specialty treatment has been made with a number of nursing homes/ hospitals in the region. Under the programme, a district office is being opened at Udhampur shortly.
He said the branch offices are also proposed to be opened in the new areas having sizeable population of insured persons which includes Katra, Rajouri, Doda, Anantnag, Pulwama, Bandipora, Baramulla, Leh and Kargil.
Arya requested all those employers who are now covered in various districts, municipal areas as a result of the latest notification published in various news papers that they should start registering themselves online on ESIC Regional Office website with the help of ESIC officials, available on helpline numbers provided in the advertisement.
