EPTWS calls on Revenue Minister

JAMMU, Mar 2: The working body of Evacuees Property Tenants Welfare Society (EPTWS) led by its President Jyoti Vaid and accompanied by MLA Jammu East called on Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
The main motive of the working body was conferment of Proprietary Rights to the occupants of Evacuee property residential and commercial (houses and shops). MLA briefed the Minister that this was a long pending demand of the Welfare Society for which the Society has been struggling for decades together. This issue was debated at various occasions in the past with the Government, Government constituted committees under the chairmanship of Revenue Commissioner besides Minis-ters and concerned authorities from time to time.
“GD Wadwa Commission had recommended that the property lying with the tenants should be given to dwellers on lease hold rights basis but the department showing its slackness failed to do it”, MLA said, adding that in some cases the department has granted lease for 20, 40 or more years.
In a press statement, General Secretary said that the Minister will call a meeting with Custodian General, Custodian, MLA Jammu concerned and some members of EPTWS shortly so as to redress the problems being faced by EP tenants. The Society submitted a detailed memorandum to the Minister.
Among others present were Suraj Sharma, Mohammad Sharief, Tej Ram, Jamshed Akhter, Romesh Sudan, Ram-esh Sharma, Vinay Bhushan, Parvinder Kour, Sushant Gupta, Sunny Chibber, Muneer, Surishta Devi and Bindu Sharma.
