UDHAMPUR, May 15: The Government inquiry team today visited the site near Latti where tragic road accident had taken place on May 11, in which 24 persons were killed and 52 others were injured.
The inquiry team, comprising RTO Jammu Ashwani Khajuria, ARTO Jammu Sushil Singh, ARTO Udhampur Romesh Magotra, Engineers Kalsi and SHO Latti Azaz Parvez visited the site and also recorded the statements of some locals.
Explaining the apparent cause of accident, the locals, including K L Gupta, Mohd Abas Malik, Abdul Malik, Araj Mohd, Arif Ahmad and Tahir Husan demanded assurance from the inquiry team that effective steps would be immediately taken up to avoid such mishaps in future.
The ill-fated bus, which met with the accident on May 11, was on way from Jakhed to Udhampur when it rolled down at Bandrasa Morh.
