Engineers to support financial discipline, work culture

Srinagar, Mar 9: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association (J&KCEGA) today said that engineers of the State would support any corrective measure that would improve the financial discipline and work culture in the State.
The CEGA in a statement said that the engineering fraternity whole heartedly supports the most desired reformative PAO system introduced by the Finance Department and reiterated that it would support any such measure that would improve up on the financial control in the system.
“The engineering community strongly believes that the implementation of PAO is in the best interest of the State and the engineering fraternity. This will induce a financial discipline in the system and will largely help in bringing in the transparency,” the statement issued by CEGA reads.
Er. Ashaq Ahmad, General Secretary, J&K CEGA said the PAO system will help the engineers in executing the works as per the approved works program / action plan in a strict manner and would not be compelled to execute  the works on the pretext of road blocks or verbal instructions.
“The association, on behalf of the engineering fraternity would assure the Government that the engineers of the State would support any such corrective measure that would improve the financial discipline and would bring in a disciplined work culture in the state,” he said.
He also said that it was brought to the notice of the association that some divisions have reconciled their accounts with the treasuries and passed on to the PAO on February 21 but is not getting reflected on the system till date, this mechanism may need some more synchronizing or fine tuning but that is in the control of the PAO not the engineers.
The Association while regretting the lock down of directorates as well as the divisions by Contractors Association said that they condemn the forceful lockout of the offices and impressed up on the state administration to take immediate steps to ensure that offices are relieved off the hostility. “The association impressed up on the government that in order to make PAO system a flawless procedure, the unpaid liabilities that are accumulated before the PAO system may be cleared at an earliest,” the statement read.
