Encroachments along National Highway removed

UDHAMPUR, July 30: On the request of  National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), District Administration Udhampur today launched anti-encroachment drive along the Jammu-Udhampur highway and removed around 60 temporary structures.
According to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar, illegal structures   along the National Highway from Manthal to Maand were removed and almost one third of  the NH stretch falling in Udhampur district, was cleared of encroachment.
Illegal structures on the remaining portion from Maand to Jakhani and Jakhani to Chenani will be removed in next phase for which work on  identification and verification of encroachments is going on, he added.
On the direction of Deputy Commission, the anti encroachment drive was started today under the supervision of Additional DC  Krishan Lal.  The team, also comprising  NHAI Project Director, Police and Revenue officials,  removed  50 to 60 illegal structures  which were constructed adjacent to the National Highway.
