Encroachment on Wakf property; SVC asks DC for demarcation

SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Taking cognizance of the complaint about encroachment on specified Wakf property falling under khasra No.140 at Arampora and Barthana in Srinagar district, the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has asked the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar to constitute a team consisting of the officials of Revenue Department for demarcation of Wakf property measuring 186 kanals and 6 marlas at Arampora and Barthana and carry out the demarcation in presence of representatives of Wakf Board.
The team shall take assistance of Police and Srinagar Municipal Corporation in removing encroachment, if any, taken place on the Wakf property.
The report submitted by Chief Controller/General Manager J&K Muslim Wakf Board prima facie revealed that one Amina Qamer wife of Peerzada Ab Rashid, has encroached upon specified wakf property falling under khasra No 140 at Arampora and has started construction on the land un-authorizedly. The report further alleged that Amina Qamer is encroaching upon the wakf land falling under khasara No.210 at Barthana, Srinagar.
The SVC, in view of the gravity of the case, directed Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar to get the land demarcated, get encroachment removed and submit Action Taken Report to the Commission within a month.  The authorities of Wakf Board shall take necessary steps for assisting Revenue officials in demarcation and securing the Wakf property.
