JAMMU, Apr 23: In a joint operation, the Forest (T), Police and Forest Protection Force (FPF) team, removed encroachment from the forest land, measuring nearly 10 kanals in Raika area of Bahu Range, near ASCOM (Batra) Hospital today.
Official sources said that nearly 10 kanal of forest area had been encroached upon by one Mohd Yunis and Jan Bibi, wife of Dullah at Raika near Batra Hospital at Sidhra. Accordingly, the DFO Jammu seeking assistance from Police and FPF wing, organised joint operation and removed structures and fencing raised by the land grabbers on forest land. The land grabbers earlier resisted action but later escaped from the site.
It is pertinent to mention here that a large area of forest land in Bahu Range in the same belt, including Raika and Dwara villages near golf course, which had been cleared by the Forest and FPF men several months ago, has been re-grabbed and concrete structures raised there by the land grabbers. Some JDA area has also been re-grabbed there as the temporary posts raised there were later withdrawn.
