SRINAGAR, July 27: Expressing concern over empty treasuries on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, All India Congress Committee (AICC) member, Abdul Gani Vakil today said it indicates that the situation has gone from bad to worse in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Vakil urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take corrective measures so that pending liabilities of salaries and wages are cleared before the Eid festival.
The former Minister in a statement here this evening expressed concern over the bankruptcy of State Government, saying it would prove disastrous for the State. He said the Government employees, daily wagers and casual labourers have not been paid their dues on this auspicious occasion of Eid and consequently, are facing a lot of difficulties.
If the Government is not able to discharge its basic liabilities, it has no right to govern the State because bankruptcy has never been experienced in J&K, Mr Vakil said.
The Government is responsible for putting people into trouble and snatched their joy and happiness, he alleged.
Congress appealed to the Chief Minister to take corrective measures so that pending liabilities of contractors, salaries and wages are cleared at the earliest.
