Kathua, Mar 26: A two day employment festival-cum-placement drive concluded today which was organised by district administration Kathua for dissemination of information on various skill development and self-employment schemes and recruitment of educated youth by various placement agencies concluded today.
District Development Commissioner Kathua, Dr  Shahid Iqbal Choudhary attended the valedictory function of the employment festival , inspected stalls and interacted with representatives of placement agencies. Ms Komal of Udaan presented a detailed resume of various placement agencies offering training programmes and jobs. More than 1750 people were registered in the fair apart from large attendance of prominent citizens, women and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shahid Iqbal stressed on the need of promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship with women and youth taking lead role as stake holders. He highlighted the various skill development initiatives launched by the district administration under project Hidayat as well as district plan, BADP, TSP , SCSP and CSS recently in the district. He further asked the departments to reach out to every household and ensure that information on various schemes related to self-employment and entrepreneurship reaches to masses.
The DDC also appreciated the role played by Employment and Counselling Centre Kathua and Mission Directorate Udaan, Jammu for their collaboration in organising an employment festival and impressive placement drive in district and informed that a series of employment fairs on same pattern are being organised in border area and other remote areas in the district. Career counselling for students has also been initiated.
Placement registration stalls were organised by corporations including Accenture, Apollo Technical Education, Aress Software, BTSPL, IL&FS, Learning Links Foundation, Manpower Group, RAXA Securities, Reliance HR and Sahaj e-Village among others.
Addl Deputy Commissioner DR Mushtaq Ahmed , Dy Director Employment Sunil Kumar, CMO Dr R K Sangra, Asstt Commissioner Revenue Atul Gupta, PO DRDA Noor Alam, CEO LSDA Dr Bharat Bhushan, DIO Kathua Indu Jamwal and district officers of Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Sericulture, Tourism, Sheep Husbandry, DUDA, Transport, Fisheries, Education, Forests and other line departments as well as  Banks, NGOs and cultural groups participated in the proceedings.
