JAMMU, July 10: A large number of employees from various Government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings held protest demonstration outside the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu at Rail Head Complex and several district headquarters in the region.
In Jammu, a large number of employees including daily wagers, under the banner of State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) assembled at Rail Head Complex and then moved in the shape of a rally towards the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. Several senior trade union leaders including Suresh Sharma, Subhash Verma, Babu Hussain Malik, Yash Paul Sharma, K C Dubey, Darshan Magotra, Sushil Sudan and others  were leading.
They were shouting slogans in support of their demands. They criticised the Government for maintaining criminal silence over the pending issues of the employees. They alleged that the Government instead of addressing the issues of the employees is busy in sabotaging the employees struggle by calling and talking to selective persons of their choice. They warned the Government of dire consequences for adopting such an approach. They cautioned the employees that some self-styled leaders have penetrated in the movement and are systematically jeopardizing the interests of the employees. They also appealed the employees to be more cautious about the move of the retired trade union leaders who have joined active politics and various political parties. They must take care of the issues of pensioners, they maintained.
The reports from some districts said that employees held protest outside DC offices in support of their pending issues. The major demands of the employees are regularization of daily wagers/ consolidated workers, removal of pay anomalies, release of 10 % DA, release of balance  6th Pay Commission arrears, implementation of defined pension scheme, budgetary support of PSUs, increase in medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, increase in daily wages to Rs 300 per day, payment of dislocation allowance, reorganization of Estates Department, qualifying service for pension at par with Centre and settlement of issue of VRS given SRTC workers.
