Employees, pensioners to stage protest on Nov 14

JAMMU, Nov 8: The State Government employees and pensioners, casual labours and daily wagers have resolved to hold massive protest demonstration outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu on November 14.
Talking to media-persons here today, Mohd Gafoor Dar state convenor, J&K Govt Employees, Casual Labours, Workers & Pensioners United Platform announced this decision of holding massive protest in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, at Rail Head complex on November 14 to press for the pending demands of the employees, workers and pensioners. The heads of various employees/ workers union were also present on the occasion.
Mr Dar further said that employees and workers are holding protests and also submitting representations to the Government from time to time since long but this Government has always ignored their pending issues. Over 61,000 casual labours/ temporary workers engaged after 1994 in various departments / Corporations are waiting for their regularization. Many workers are unpaid for the last many months and facing starvation.
He alleged that Government has also failed to take a decision about enhancement of honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers at par with adjoining states of Punjab and Haryana. He strongly demanded implementation of 7th Pay Commission report and enhancement of Medical Allowance of the employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 per month.
Dar said Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu had also made announcement on the floor of the House during previous Budget session regarding implementation of 7th Pay Commission report but it is unfortunate that the Government has failed to fulfill promises made with the employees and pensioners. He appealed the employees, temporary workers and pensioners to participate in large number in the proposed protest program.
Senior trade unionists, Rajinder Kumar, Nazir Ahmed Molvi, Vikramjeet Singh, Akhil Sharma, Bhanu Partap Singh, Deepak Gupta, Pardeep Singh and others also accompanied.
